Please submit a request via our website if you require an ante-natal appointment. Some appointments may be by phone and some are face 2 face. Your midwife will discuss and arrange this with you.
You can also self refer to maternity services by using the following link: www.asph.nhs.uk/your-pregnancy/self-referral-service
Asthma patients are looked after by our practice nurse, in liaison with the doctors.
Blood & Smear Tests
Blood Tests are available Monday to Friday pre-booked appointments only. These can be booked with on-line if you are set up to use these services or via our website. These appointments are for patients aged 16 years and over.
Blood tests are done by the nurse and you must have a form or have been advised by the GP or nurse to have a test. If you are advised that you need a fasting blood test this means that you cannot have anything to eat or drink apart from water for 12hours before the test.
There is a machine in our waiting room in the surgery that you can use to take your blood pressure, record your height, weight and BMI. You are welcome to use this when the practice is open. Please present to reception who will issue you with a token and instructions to use the machine.
These are used to screen for cervical cancer. By detecting this early it can be better treated. Women will be sent reminders for regular smear tests once over the age of 25. Routine smear tests would be every 3 years until the age of 50, after that it will be every 5 years. Smear tests are usually performed by the nurse.
Child Health & Immunisation
Baby clinics are run by most of the doctors for child developmental checks and immunisations. They also allow an opportunity to discuss other problems e.g. sleeping, feeding and child health worries, with a doctor or health visit.

If you are between the ages of 15-25 you can have a free Chlamydia test. This is done on a urine sample. The results are confidential and can be sent to your mobile phone. Ask the doctors, advanced nurse practitioners or nurses for the test.

Free NHS Health Checks

Everyone is at risk of developing these conditions. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented – even if you have a history of them in your family.
If you are between 40 and 74 years of age and have not been diagnosed with any of the above conditions, you will be invited for an NHS Health Check. Please come along to this and you will be better prepared for the future and be able to take steps to maintain or improve your health.
We offer Family Planning telephone consultations with our nurse. Please use our website to request a telephone call.
Teenagers and Young Adults
Teenagers and young adults are welcome to discuss aspects of safer sex and contraception with either the doctor or the practice nurses. However, if you are requesting contraception for the first time, you must see the doctor.
Patient confidentiality is respected at all times.
